Well it's that time, another software update in our midst. One of the websites that I do work on is gearing up for an update but it's so much larger then that. The site is currently using Joomla!1.0.x and we need to upgrade to Joomla!1.5.x and let me tell you, thats not been an easy task. We've had bumps, hiccups, and a few set backs but all in all we're still running right on time with what we set for the timeline of the upgrade. I guess I should point out that it's not just a simple update, it's a migration to a new edition. Joomla! 1.0.x and 1.5.x have quite a bit different coding and the layout for the MySQL database made a big change too. Joomla! has always been pretty good at the ease of doing updates but as I said, this is no mere update. The new Joomla! system is faster, more user friendy and all-in-all a better content managment system. Well, with everything going according to plan I guess it's time I let the users of the website know that we're planing to launch the new site within the month.
